Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning (EAP and EAL) incorporates the use of Horses in an experiential way that encourages Personal Growth and Learning. It is a team approach comprising of the psychotherapist, the equine specialist, the horses and the client. It is solution focused and goal orientated. All activities take place on the ground and there is no riding involved.
Why are horses so effective? Horses have always played a major part in human culture in transportation and agriculture, in war and sport. They present as a powerful and strong animal and yet they are so engaging. They are a pray animal and display herd behaviours, being both sensitive and hyper vigilant.
All of this and yet they feel emotionally safe, present, an embodied connection, with immediate, candid and non-judgmental feedback.
EAP and EAL is suitable for individuals for issues such as: Depression, Anxiety, low self esteem, Trauma, Abuse, Shame / Guilt, PTSD, Grief / Loss, Feeling Disconnected from Self / Others, Feelings of Hopelessness, Personal Development, ASD and ADHD, plus much more.
